The Information Desk

Dear Library Patrons,

Hullo and welcome! I’m so glad you’ve wandered in. This little corner of the library is where you’ll find links to where to find me, request a bot, or leave a donation (never expected, but always appreciated—it helps cover image generation and the occasional deep-dive into obscure bits of history).I create bots on Janitor, Saucepan (referral link below, if you need one), and CharSnap, but you might also spot me lurking quietly in the Discords for each.I also co-run the Mead Hall Discord Server with the brilliant Murphy and Mori. Age verification is required, but we would be very happy to have you. Pick up the @LibraryPatrons role, so you get alert about votes on my upcoming bots and latest releases.Thank you again for visiting!

Warmest regards,

ShaelynDaine

Here’s a small collection of resources I found especially helpful when I was starting out. There’s a lot of excellent information out there, so I thought it might be useful to gather a few of my favorites in one place. It's mostly based around JLLM, since Saucepan is still so new. It's a work in progress for now, so please pardon the dust!

The most important part of any good bot is the idea. Then comes the writing. As P.G. Wodehouse once wrote, "I just sit at my typewriter and curse a bit."These can help make the process a little less painful:

Bot Writing

  • 🧾 Character Creation Guide (JED): This is an excellent template that can be used on nearly ever LLM. It's where I got my start and a lot of creators swear by it!

  • 📝 Lyra's Template: I personally use a modifed version of this!

  • 📑 StatuoTW Guide to Making Bots: Another excellent guide with a lot of FAQs. This is particularly of use if you use other platforms.

  • 📗 Names by Nationality: Got a nationality for your character in mind? This is a great place to start.

  • 📘 Names by Special Meaning: If you want your character to have a specific vibe or want to hint about something special in their backstory, start here!

  • 📙 Surnames: Just a nice long list of last names to help get you started.

  • 🧮 Tokenizer: Unsure how many tokens you have used? You can use this to check!

Image Creation

  • 🖌 Midjourney/Niji: This one is subscription-based, but it is two image generation platforms in one. It's beloved because you can rate images that others have generated to find your "style" or have many styles you switch between. You can also mix and match style codes (called p codes) with other people.

  • ImageFX: A very basic image generation tool, but it works, is fairly simple to learn, and it is free! I used it when I was getting started.

  • White Background Remover: Sometimes you just need to remove a background so you can turn an image into a watermark, sticker, or icon. Whatever you are doing, this can help!

  • Background Remover: Another background remover. See which one works best for you.

  • 💧 Watermark Tool: Alas, there are sites that scrape bots and publish them elsewhere. If you want people to be able to find their way back to you, this can help

Advanced Prompts

JLLM and other LLMs have instructions that tell them how to respond, but if you want to tailor that experience to get the sort of response you like, try using an Advanced Prompt. You want to keep the prompt as streamlined as possible, as it will eat up your context, but it can also make sure you get the response you want every time.

Proxies

JLLM is great, but it can have limited context (how much the bot can remember). DeepSeek or other proxies can provide a great alternative to this and can give your experience with a bot a different flavor. You can even switch between the two at will. I personally use DeepSeek through OpenRouter, so that is what I know best.

  • 🌐 OpenRouter: This is the method I use to access DeepSeek.

Beginner's HTML & CSS Resources

  • 📕 CSS and HTML guide and codes for JanitorAI: The original and most comprehensive guide that I am aware of on the subject on Janitor's CSS/HTML.

  • 📗 Emoji and Text Banners: These are so old school and charming, they can really spice up a profile without graphics.

  • 🎓 W3 Schools: The best place to start to learn it all. You can also search here for more targetted help.

  • 🎨 Murphy's Designs: If all else fails, you can always commission my friend, Murphy. (Assuming she has availabilities!)
